Day 1: Nairobi

Arrive in Nairobi, where you are met and transferred to your city hotel, Nairobi Safari Club-on Bed & Breakfast

Dinner and overnight at the Nairobi Safari Club

Day 2: Nairobi-OLpejeta

We depart Nairobi and proceed to Sweetwater’s Tented Camp. Sweetwater land, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and its sumptuous ranch were once the private domain of famed multi-millionaire, Adnan Kashoggi.

We visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Good all Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhino with its stunning forty specimens! In fact Sweetwater boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya.

Moreover, the camp has its own private waterhole and salt lick so we’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters. Whether its day or night game drives, camel trekking, lion tracking, al fresco dining or relaxing by pool, Sweetwater’s is bound to delight.

Dinner and overnight at the Sweetwater’s Serena Tented Camp

Day 3: Sweetwater’s/ Ol Pejeta – Full Day

An early morning game drives in Ol Pejeta Sweetwater’s Conservancy. The Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals including all the “Big Five” (the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion).

The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience.

Today we explore the Conservancy on two extensive game runs.  It is one of the oldest and largest Conservancies in Kenya which consists of a semi arid grassland and savannah. It’s considered one of the world’s biodiversity strongholds, and its popularity is mostly due to the vast amounts of diverse wildlife that can be seen.  The Conservancy is also home to a great birdlife.

Day 4: Sweetwater’s/ Ol Pejeta – Nairobi

After breakfast depart by road to arrive in Nairobi in time for lunch. We anticipate to have our Lunch in one of the celebrated restaurant in the entire capital city of Kenya Nairobi by the name Carnivore. After Lunch we will get a chance to visit the Giraffe Centre and learn about the endangered Rothschild Giraffes before, getting a chance to feed them and possibly get a slimy kiss from one of them. During this entire experience we will have in mind our date with the David Shedrick Wildlife Trust where we will be on duty to see our fostered baby elephants to sleep after  a long day in the park.

From this day’s activities you will be dropped to your hotel in order to join your new trip.

About OL peJata Conservancy.

Large enough to accommodate a whole host of unique activities, game drive routes and diverse wildlife, but small enough that you can do almost all of them in eight hours. For the pressed-for-time and the spontaneous, Ol Pejeta is one of the best wildlife conservancy’s in Kenya to do a day trip.

After a morning game drive, day trippers can visit the chimpanzees and endangered species enclosure, before grabbing a bite to eat at Morani’s Restaurant or parking up in a designated campsite for a picnic. The afternoon can be spent visiting Baraka the blind black rhino, keeping curiosity wild at the education centre, and perhaps winding down with another game drive before leaving.

Guardianship – We are caretakers of the land, safeguarding endangered species and ensuring the openness and accessibility of conservation for all.

Innovation – An innovative attitude is part of our make-up, we empower our people to think the same way and embrace new approaches to conservation.

Authenticity – We provide natural wilderness experiences, backed up by scientifically credible conservation and genuine interactions with wildlife.

From a working cattle ranch in colonial Kenya, to a trailblazer of conservation innovation – the story of Ol Pejeta is as enchanting as it is inspirational.

Today, Ol Pejeta is the largest black rhino sanctuary in east Africa, and home to three of the world’s last remaining northern white rhino. It is the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees, in a Sanctuary established to rehabilitate animals rescued from the black market. It has some of the highest predator densities in Kenya, and still manages a very successful livestock programmers. Ol Pejeta also seeks to support the people living around its borders, to ensure wildlife conservation translates to better education, healthcare and infrastructure for the next generation of wildlife guardians.

In 2014, Ol Pejeta achieved IUCN Green List status, one of only two conservancies in Africa to be awarded this. IUCN Green Listing aims to define excellence in managing valuable natural areas. We have also been awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence three years running – a testament to the incredible experiences treasured by all who visit Ol Pejeta.

In 2015, we published our 2020 Management Plan – which was developed by our staff in consultation with a range of stakeholders, and sets out our vision for the years leading up to 2020, outlining the major projects that will help us to deliver our vision. We want to become an innovative and sustainable model that conserves biodiversity (particularly endangered species) and contributes to economic growth and the improvement of the livelihoods of rural communities.
