12 Days Kenya & Tanzania Safari

Day 1: Fly Johannesburg – Nairobi

Upon arrival met and transfer to hotel for overnight.

Accommodation: Sarova Stanley Hotel (or similar), Nairobi – 1 night.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru National Park

Today’s destination is Lake Nakuru National Park, home to hundreds of lesser and greater flamingos.  An afternoon game drive awaits with the chance to see a myriad of various game and birdlife. (B,L,D)

Accommodation: Mbweha Safari Camp (or similar), Lake Nakuru National Park – 1 night.

Day 3: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Enroute to Masai Mara, enjoy wonderful scenery and plenty of game.  Be spoilt on game drives within the Reserve with the variety of bird and wildlife species to be seen, the Mara is one that will rarely disappoint. (B,L,D)

Accommodation: Tipilikwani Luxury Tented Camp (or similar), Masai Mara Game Reserve – 2 nights.

Day 4: Masai Mara Game Reserve

A full day of game viewing in the Masai Mara.  Optional activities include Balloon Safari over the Mara plains or a visit to a traditional Masai Manyatta (own expense).  (B,L,D)

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

After an early morning breakfast set out for the border crossing into one of the world’s last great wildlife refuges, the Serengeti National Park.   (B,L,D)

Accommodation: Serengeti Sopa Lodge (or similar), Serengeti National Park – 2 nights

Day 6: Serengeti National Park

Depart for a day of game viewing on the vast Serengeti Plains. (B,L,D)

Day 7: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Travel to Ngorongoro Crater, via Olduvai Gorge, known as the “Cradle of Mankind”, where archaeological traces of prehistoric man 3.5 million years old have been discovered. (B,L,D)

Accommodation: Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge (or similar), Ngorongoro – 2 nights.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Descend some 600 metres into the crater to enjoy a full day of game viewing.  Considered the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, it is home to a spectacular concentration of wildlife including the Big 5.  The crater has habitats including grassland, forest and swamp. (B,L,D)

Day 9: Tarangire National Park

Today’s destination is Tarangire National Park, home to towering Baobob trees, herds of elephants, tree climbing lions and abundant bird life.  Afternoon game drive. (B,L,D)Accommodation: Tarangire Sopa Lodge (or similar), Tarangire National Park – 1 night.

Day 10: Amboseli National Park

Depart for Arusha, onto the Namanga border and after clearing immigration proceed to Amboseli National Park.  Arrive in time for lunch before departing on an afternoon game drive. (B,L,D)

Accommodation: Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge (or similar), Amboseli National Park – 2 nights.

Day 11: Amboseli National Park

Morning and afternoon game viewing drives in the game park. (B,L,D)

Day 12: Nairobi – Australia (via Johannesburg).  Depart for Nairobi and after lunch at a local restaurant transfer to Nairobi airport for the return flight to Australia via Johannesburg. (B,L)
